Perceiving Purpose Sanjay Gupta Books
In a world of dishonesty and complexity, I found Sanjay Gupta's book "Perceiving Purpose" a sublime return to what is good and pure in each of our lives. We all love (or are amazed by) the refreshingly honest way that animals, particularly dogs, reach the measure of their creation. Even a dog chewing on a brand new shoe hearkens us back to a time when our lives were more honest, straightforward and purposed. We are first incredulous, and then jealous, at the dog's shoe fetish, and then covetous of the dog's ability to be content at this simple mastication. We marvel how the dog's soul is so content and purposed with the shoe's sole! Then we begrudgingly return to our chaotic lives of "say what you don't mean" and "attend a meeting so that you can be seen" and so forth. Sanjay's book "Perceiving Purpose" helps us re-realize where happiness is really derived -- from becoming one with our purpose, values, goals, and beliefs. And using a simple canine as his symbol of contentment, Sanjay breaks through the quagmire of how to find that contentment by focusing on how humankind's best friend achieves his/her Nirvana. It's a wonderful book filled with easy steps on achieving contentment by identifying the elements that make each of us "tick" (or NOT tick). After reading this book, I was content to lay by the fire and feel like I was doing something meaningful, rather than feeling the learned human guilt about wasting time. "Perceiving Purpose" is a compellingly simple book -- and a must read. Follow the dog -- our trusted ally -- to a simple, meaningful life full of purpose and bereft of blame, guilt and dishonest behaviors that snare each of us in the warp and "woof" of our lives!Product details

Perceiving Purpose Sanjay Gupta Books Reviews
Thought author was the TV Sanjay Gupta. This is silly book.
I enjoyed reading this insightful concise book
several of the areas brought clarity and greater meaning to times in my life
highly recommended
A great book! This is a great guidebook for some always-needed self reflection.
Incredible book that with a unique framework goals, motivations, and personal happiness using a dog's mind as a fun but surprisingly accurate foundation. Super fast and easy read, but packed with enough meat to keep you thinking and rereading as the lessons are learned.
I had to write and rewrite this review a few times, trying to gather my thoughts. I'm still not quite satisfied with it, but that's okay - I want to write with my reaction and my heart, rather than polish my opinion.
This is a book for now.
We live in a bizarre world, full of "alternative facts" and "fake news," replete with diversion and misdirection and solutions to problems that weren't problems until we "solved" them, and sometimes it feels like we are frantically digging through this ... pile of stuff that grows, and grows, and violently grows, and we try to push down and cover our doubt with bluster, and we feel shame for doubting because the promises are so big, and so confident, and what choice do we have?
What choices, indeed. Perhaps we recognize those choices. Sometimes our choices are cloaked from us, and sometimes we cloak them from ourselves. This book is ultimately about being honest with yourself, before all others. It makes no promises, but it does provide a number of tools that you can use to begin digging the other way - into yourself, and into your own thoughts and actions.
This book may be uncomfortable. Or you may breeze through it. It may change your life, or it may not. What you do with these tools... well, that's up to you. Your choice. I'm choosing hard work, and I think I'll be better for it.
Highly recommended.
As I finished the book, I knew I'd found a new lifelong companion. This is the sort of book, profound in its scope and challenges, simple and focused in execution, that I look forward to marking different seasons in my life by reading and rereading and reading again. Like a true friend, with clarity and honesty, but without judgment, Gupta asks the questions that our hearts long to have asked. He invites us on the most meaningful journey of all, self-examination.
Can your best friend help you find your life's purpose? Sanjay Gupta argues persuasively that they can - as long as they have four legs and a wet nose.
I loved this book from the opening line "This book is about hope" and read it to the last sentence "I think it is time we start perceiving dog" in one enjoyable sitting. Gupta manages to combine an intensely personal story, a primer on philosophy and a homage to his two dogs, Cody and Vito, in a slim and engrossing package.
Unlike many other books you will read, this one challenges you to think differently about yourself and the world around you. In that sense it reminds me of David Foster Wallace's famous address "This is water". Foster Wallace said "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day. That is real freedom."
Sanjay Gupta shows you how you can achieve this. Read it.
